Cortexin® 10mg/5ml x 10 Vials

$67.00

Cortexin® is a mixture of neuropeptides, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals fractions, all of which have a pronounced positive effect on the brain. Similar to Cerebrolysin, Cortexin is based on neuropeptides and amino acids. However, it has significantly more peptide fractions and fewer amino acids

Description

CORTEXIN® contains a complex of low-molecular water-soluble polypeptide fractions, which penetrate the blood-brain barrier and directly affect nervous cells. The agent produces a nootropic, neuroprotective, antioxidant and tissue-specific effect.

Composition and form of release

Lyophilisate – 1 vial:

– active substance – Cortexin 10 mg (a complex of water-soluble polypeptide fractions)
– excipients – glycine 12 mg (stabilizer)

Peptides of Cortexin® contains:

Amino acids: aspartic acid (446 nm/mg), treonine (212 nm/mg), serine (268 nm/mg), glutamic acid (581 nm/mg), proline (187 nm/mg), glycine (298 nm/mg), alanine (346 nm/mg), valine (240nm/mg), isoleucine (356 nm/mg), tyrosine (109 nm/mg), phenylalanine (162 nm/mg), hystidin (116 nm/mg), lysine (253 nm/mg), arginine and other aminos (202 nm/mg).

On the fraction of aspartic acids it is necessary up to 12 %, and glutamic acids — about 15 % from the general content of amino acids in structure of peptides. Glycine, present at a preparation, at the same time carries out a role of the stabilizer. Structure of Cortexin® includes water-soluble Vitamins (thiamine — 0.08 mkg/10 of mg, riboflavin— 0,03 mkg/10 of mg, niacin — 0,05 mkg/10 of mg) and fat-soluble vitamins (retinol— 0,011 mkg/10 of mg, an alpha-tocopherol — 0,007 mkg/10 of mg)

Minerals: Сu — 0,2129 mkg/10 mg, Fe — 2,26 mkg/10 mg, Ca — 22,93 mkg/10 mg, Mg — 8,5 mkg/10 mg, K — 19,83 mkg/10 mg, Na — 643,2 mkg/10 mg, S — 152,65 mkg/10 mg, P — 91,95 mkg/10 mg, Zn — 4,73 mkg/10 mg, Mb — 0,0203 mkg/10 mg, Co — 0,0044 mkg/10 mg, Mn — 0,0061 mkg/10 mg, Se — 0,0745 mkg/10 mg, Al — 0,3104 mkg/10 mg, Li — 0,0340 mkg/10 mg

Cortexin® contains a complex of low-molecular water-soluble polypeptide fractions that penetrate the blood-brain barrier directly to nerve cells. The drug has a nootropic, neuroprotective, antioxidant and tissue-specific effect.

Nootropic – improves the higher functions of the brain, learning and memory processes, concentration, resistance to various stressful influences.

Neuroprotective – protects neurons from damage by various endogenous neurotoxic factors (glutamate, calcium ions, free radicals), reduces the toxic effects of psychotropic substances.

Antioxidant – inhibits lipid peroxidation in neurons, increases the survival of neurons under conditions of oxidative stress and hypoxia.

Tissue-specific – activates the metabolism of neurons in the central and peripheral nervous system, reparative processes, improves the functions of the cerebral cortex and the general tone of the nervous system.

The mechanism of action of Cortexin® is due to the activation of neuronal peptides and neurotrophic factors of the brain; optimization of the balance of the metabolism of excitatory and inhibitory amino acids, dopamine, serotonin; GABAergic effect; a decrease in the level of paroxysmal convulsive activity of the brain, the ability to improve its bioelectric activity; preventing the formation of free radicals (lipid peroxidation products).

Cortexin® benefits:

  • Improves learning and memory processes
  • Improves tolerance to mental and physical stress
  • Improves higher brain functions and concentration
  • Increases the survival of neurons under oxidative stress and hypoxia
  • Improves bioelectric activity and prevents the formation of free radicals
  • Activates the metabolism of neurons in the central and peripheral nervous system
  • Promotes stimulation of cortical function and general improvement of the nervous system

Indications for use

In the complex therapy of cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injury and its consequences, encephalopathies of various origins, cognitive impairments (memory and thinking disorders), acute and chronic encephalitis and encephalomyelitis, epilepsy, asthenic conditions (suprasegmental autonomic disorders), reduced ability to learn delayed psychomotor and speech development in children, various forms of cerebral palsy.

Use during pregnancy and children

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy (due to the lack of clinical trial data).

If it is necessary to prescribe the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued (due to the lack of data from clinical studies).

How to take Cortexin?

The drug is administered intramuscularly.

Before injection, the contents of the vial are dissolved in 1-2 ml of a 0.5% solution of procaine (novocaine), water for injection or 0.9% sodium chloride solution, directing the needle to the wall of the vial to avoid foaming, and inject once daily: adults at a dose of 10 mg for 10 days; for children with a body weight of up to 20 kg at a dose of 0.5 mg / kg, with a body weight of more than 20 kg – at a dose of 10 mg for 10 days.

If necessary, a second course is carried out in 3-b months. With hemispheric ischemic stroke in the acute and early recovery periods, adults at a dose of 10 mg 2 times a day (morning and afternoon) for 10 days, with a repeated course after 10 days.
