the International unlicensed name of Oxymetazoline a hydrochloride
the Dosage form Spray for a nose.
Structure of 100 ml of solution soderzhataktivny substance – oxymetazoline a hydrochloride of 0.01 g, 0.025 g, 0.05 g, excipients: boric acid 1.8, a benzalkoniya chloride solution of 50% 0.08, propylene glycol 5.0, (PVP) 0.5 povidone, sodium teteraborat to rn 4.8-6.8, waters for injections up to 100 ml.
OpisanieProzrachnyy colourless or yellowish liquid.
Pharmacological properties
Vasoconstrictive drug for topical administration. Alpha adrenomimetik, derivative imidazoline. Narrows vessels in the site of application, reduces puffiness of a mucous membrane of a nose and upper parts of airways. At topical intranasal administration does not irritate mucous, does not cause hyperaemia. At intranasal use has no systemic action.
Indications
– acute rhinitis (including allergic)
– vasomotorial rhinitis
– sinusitis
– diagnostic vasoconstriction.
The route of administration and doses
to Adults and children are more senior than 6 years appoint 0.05% solution on 2-3 injections in each nostril 2 – 3 times a day. Repeated introduction is possible cherez12 hours.
To children aged from 1 year up to 6 years appoint 0.025% solution on 1 injection in each nostril. Repeated introduction is possible cherez12 hours.
To children aged from 1 month till 1 year appoint 0.01% solution on 1 injection. Repeated introduction is possible cherez12 hours.
Also following procedure is possible: depending on age one injection of 0.01% of solution for cotton wool and wiping of the nasal courses.
Drug use is not recommended more than 3-5 days (VIDAL). Side effects
– sometimes – dryness and burning sensation of a mucous membrane of a nose, sneezing, in rare instances, after the end of effect of drug feeling of congestion of a nose
– at prolonged use in high doses arterial hypertension, tachycardia.
Contraindications
– atrophic rhinitis

children’s age till 1 year (for solution of 0.025%, 0.05%)
children’s age up to 6 years (for solution of 0.05%)
hypersensitivity to drug components.
With care it is necessary to appoint drug in arterial hypertension, the profound atherosclerosis, tachycardia, a hyperthyroidism, diabetes, a pheochromocytoma, simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors and during the period up to 10 days after the end of their use. Drug should not be used it is long also in high doses. It can lead to weakening of its action and also to a mucosal atrophy of a nose, a reactive hyperemia with medicamentous rhinitis, to damage and disturbance of functions of an epithelium. At prolonged use of drug in high doses it is impossible to exclude its influence on a cardiovascular system and central nervous system. At pregnancy and in the period of a lactation it is necessary to consult with the doctor.
Medicinal interactions – are slowed down by absorption of mestnoanesteziruyushchy means and prolongs their effect – other vasoconstrictive drugs promote manifestation of by-effects – strengthens effect of MAO inhibitors on central nervous system. Overdose of overdose it is not revealed.
Special instructions: – to apply carefully at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation.
A form of release and packing
in bottles for nasal sprays on 10 or 15 ml enclosed together with the instruction in a cardboard box.
