Viferon® Ointment (Interferon alfa-2b 40000 ME) 12g Tube

• Interferon alpha-2b human recombinant in combination with highly active antioxidants, which is part of the drug, helps fight influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections at any stage of the disease. The drug is used in the treatment of a wide range of acute respiratory infections. Its original formula not only blocks the virus, but also restores immunity, which helps to cope with the symptoms of the disease and prevent the occurrence of subsequent diseases.


• The use of the drug for herpes allows you to achieve complete disappearance of skin rashes on 3-4 days of therapy


• The use of the drug VIFERON Ointment for stomatitis (damage to the oral mucosa) in children and adults caused by a herpes infection helps to strengthen local immunity indicators, as well as combat the reproduction of the virus in cells. With herpetic stomatitis, the drug is applied in a thin layer to the lesions 3-4 times a day, the duration of treatment is 5-7 days.
  It is recommended to start treatment immediately when the first signs of lesions of the mucous membranes appear (itching, burning, redness).

INDICATIONS

Treatment of herpetic infections (Herpes simplex types 1 and 2) of the skin and mucous membranes of various localizations: - as part of the complex therapy of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections in children aged 1 year and over.

 

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

In most cases, Viferon®, an ointment for external and topical use, is well tolerated. When applied to the nasal mucosa, side effects (rhinorrhea, sneezing, burning of the nasal mucosa) are mild and transient and disappear on their own after discontinuation of the drug.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR USE

Children under 1 year of age: - hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

 

DOSING MODE

With a herpes infection, the ointment is applied in a thin layer to the lesions 3-4 times / day, the duration of treatment is 5-7 days.

It is recommended to start treatment immediately when the first signs of skin and mucous membrane lesions (itching, burning, redness) appear.

When treating recurrent herpes, it is preferable to start treatment in the prodromal period or at the very beginning of the appearance of signs of relapse.

For the treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections, the ointment is applied in a thin layer on the mucous membrane of the nasal passages:
children aged 1 to 2 years - 2500 ME (1 pea with a diameter of 0.5 cm) 3 times / day,
children aged 2 to 12 years - 2500 ME (1 pea with a diameter of 0.5 cm) 4 times / day,
children and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years - 5000 ME (1 pea with a diameter of 1 cm) 4 times / day.
The duration of treatment is 5 days.

 

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LASTING

Since the systemic absorption of interferon is low with external and local application, and the drug has an effect only in the lesion, it is possible to use the drug Viferon® in the form of an ointment during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Use in children

The drug is contraindicated for use in children under the age of 1 year.

In most cases, Viferon®, an ointment for external and topical use, is well tolerated.

 

Viferon Ointment must be stored at a temperature of 2 to 8°C, protected from light and out of the reach of children.
