Ingredient: Beclomethasone

What is Nasobec (Beclomethasone) Nasal Spray?

Nasobec is a nasal spray containing beclomethasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation in the nasal passages.

This medicine is commonly used to treat and prevent the symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and year-round allergies (perennial allergic rhinitis), including a runny nose, sneezing, and congestion.

Nasobec is designed for intranasal use, meaning it is sprayed directly into the nose.

Each bottle contains 200 doses, with each spray delivering 50 micrograms of beclomethasone dipropionate.

How does Nasobec help with hay fever and allergies?

Nasobec works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages, which helps relieve symptoms of allergies such as congestion, sneezing, and a runny nose.

The active ingredient, beclomethasone dipropionate, is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of substances that cause inflammation.

This makes it effective for managing both seasonal allergies, such as hay fever, and year-round allergic conditions, like reactions to dust mites or pet dander.

Who can use Nasobec Nasal Spray?

Nasobec is suitable for adults and children over the age of six who suffer from allergic rhinitis, including hay fever and year-round allergies.

It is important to follow the recommended dosage and consult with a healthcare professional if you are unsure whether Nasobec is right for you.

Do not use Nasobec if:

  • You are allergic to beclomethasone or any of the other ingredients in the spray.
  • You are in the first trimester of pregnancy.
  • It is intended for children under six years old, as its safety has not been established for this age group.

How should I use Nasobec Nasal Spray?

  1. Shake the bottle gently before use.
  2. Remove the cap and hold the bottle as shown in the product instructions.
  3. If it's your first time using the spray or you haven’t used it for a while, release one dose into the air.
  4. Close one nostril with your finger, insert the spray into the other nostril, and tilt your head slightly forward.
  5. Breathe in gently through your nose as you press the applicator to release a dose.
  6. Exhale through your mouth.
  7. Repeat the process for the other nostril, if needed.

The usual dose for adults and children over six years old is two sprays in each nostril twice a day.

Once symptoms are under control, the dose can be reduced to one spray in each nostril twice a day.

Maximum daily dose: Do not exceed a total of eight sprays per day.

Regular use is crucial for the spray to be effective.

What precautions should I take when using Nasobec?

  • Systemic effects: Nasal corticosteroids like Nasobec can sometimes have systemic effects, especially when used in high doses for prolonged periods. Some users have reported delayed growth in children, so it is recommended to monitor the growth of children undergoing long-term treatment.

  • Adrenal function: Using higher doses than recommended can affect adrenal function, especially in stressful situations or before surgery. In such cases, additional systemic corticosteroids might be needed.

  • Nasal conditions: If you have a nasal infection or have recently had surgery or trauma in the nasal area, consult a doctor before using Nasobec.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Nasobec should be used with caution during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester. There is limited evidence regarding its safety for pregnant and breastfeeding women, so consult a healthcare professional to weigh the benefits and risks.

What are the possible side effects of Nasobec?

Common side effects of Nasobec include:

  • Nasal irritation or dryness
  • Nosebleeds
  • Altered taste or smell

Rare but serious side effects:

  • Vision problems such as blurred vision, cataracts, or glaucoma
  • Perforation of the nasal septum
  • Suppression of adrenal function

If you experience any serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat, stop using Nasobec and seek medical attention immediately.

How should I store Nasobec Nasal Spray?

Store Nasobec at a temperature between 10°C and 25°C (50°F to 77°F).

Do not freeze the spray. Keep it out of the reach of children, and make sure to use it within three months of opening the bottle.
