What Is Capsicam Warming Analgesic Ointment?
Capsicam warming analgesic ointment is a topical medicine used to help relieve muscle and joint discomfort.
It is applied directly to the skin and creates a warming sensation that may support comfort in the affected area.
The ointment contains active ingredients such as dimethyl sulfoxide, camphor, turpentine oil, benzyl nicotinate, and nonivamide.
These ingredients work together to provide a local warming effect and help ease pain in muscles and joints.
Capsicam is for external use only and should be applied carefully, using the supplied applicator when available. It is commonly used by adults, including athletes, when a warming topical product is needed before or after physical activity.
What Is Capsicam Used For?
Capsicam ointment is used as a warming and pain-relieving topical product for muscle and joint pain. It may be applied to areas affected by discomfort, stiffness, or soreness. Athletes may also use it as a warming rub on muscle areas before exercise or training.
Who Should Not Use Capsicam Ointment?
Do not use Capsicam if you have hypersensitivity to dimethyl sulfoxide, camphor, turpentine oil, benzyl nicotinate, nonivamide, or any other ingredient in the ointment. It should not be used on ulcers, damaged skin, or skin affected by disease. Capsicam is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
What Precautions Are Important Before Use?
Before regular use, a small skin tolerance test is recommended. Apply a small amount of ointment to the skin. Strong redness, itching, or irritation may indicate increased sensitivity. Use caution in people with a history of allergies, coronary heart disease, or in older adults.
How Should Capsicam Be Applied?
Capsicam is for external use only. For warming muscles in athletes, apply 2 to 3 grams of ointment to the muscle area with the applicator and rub in with gentle massage movements until slight redness appears. After training, wash the ointment off with cool water.
For pain relief, apply 1 to 3 grams of ointment to the painful area 2 to 3 times daily, depending on pain intensity. A dressing may be applied to increase the warming effect. If symptoms do not improve or become worse after using Capsicam, contact a healthcare professional.
What Should I Do After Applying Capsicam?
After each application, wash your hands thoroughly with cool water and soap. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, and damaged skin. Do not freeze the ointment or expose it to excessive heat.
Can Capsicam Interact With Other Medicines?
Dimethyl sulfoxide may increase the absorption and effect of other medicines applied to the skin. It may also enhance the action or toxicity of certain medicines. Caution is recommended when Capsicam is used together with other topical products.
Can Capsicam Be Used During Pregnancy Or Breastfeeding?
Capsicam is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding because there is not enough safety information for these situations. A healthcare professional should be informed if pregnancy or breastfeeding applies.
What Side Effects May Occur?
Possible side effects include itching, burning sensation, redness, swelling, hives, or other hypersensitivity reactions. If these symptoms occur, stop using the ointment and wash it off the skin. These symptoms usually disappear within 8 to 12 hours after stopping use.
What Happens If Too Much Capsicam Is Used?
Applying too much ointment may cause redness, mild temporary itching, or a burning sensation. Wash the area with cool water. If Capsicam is accidentally swallowed, seek medical help and take the package with you. Do not induce vomiting in severe poisoning cases.
How Should Capsicam Be Stored?
Store Capsicam at a temperature not above 25°C or 77°F.
Do not freeze.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date. The shelf life is 2 years.
