What is Amizon® (Enisamium Iodide)?
Amizon® is an antiviral medication that contains the active ingredient enisamium iodide.
It is primarily used for the treatment and prevention of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections.
Amizon® works by inhibiting the replication of viruses, helping to reduce the severity and duration of symptoms.
Available in tablet form, it is commonly used during the flu season to protect against viral infections.
How Should Amizon® Be Used?
Dosage for Treatment:
- Adults: The typical dosage is 500 mg (0.5 g) three times a day or 1000 mg (1 g) twice a day.
- Children aged 12 years and above: 500 mg (0.5 g) three times a day.
- Children aged 6 to 12 years: 125 mg (0.125 g) two to three times a day.
- Duration: The standard treatment duration is 7 days.
Dosage for Prevention:
- Adults and children over 16 years: 250 mg (0.25 g) daily for 3–5 days, followed by 250 mg every 2–3 days for 2–3 weeks.
- Children aged 6 to 12 years: 125 mg every other day for 2–3 weeks.
- Children aged 12 to 16 years: 250 mg every other day for 2–3 weeks.
What Precautions Should Be Taken?
Before using Amizon®, it is important to consider the following precautions:
- Thyroid Function: Amizon® can increase iodine levels in the blood, which may affect thyroid function. Although this effect is usually temporary, it is advisable to monitor thyroid function during treatment, especially in patients with pre-existing thyroid conditions.
- Other Iodine-Containing Medications: Avoid using other iodine-containing medications during and for 7 days after the treatment with Amizon®.
- Lactose Content: Amizon® tablets contain lactose. If you have lactose intolerance, consult your healthcare provider before taking this medication.
Can Children and Pregnant Women Use Amizon®?
- Children: Amizon® should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Amizon® is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of clinical data on its safety in these conditions.
What Are the Possible Side Effects of Amizon®?
Common side effects include headache, fatigue, and gastrointestinal disturbances such as dry mouth, nausea, and diarrhea. In some cases, patients may experience skin reactions like itching or rash. Although these side effects are generally mild and resolve on their own, if they persist or worsen, consult your healthcare provider.
How Should Amizon® Be Stored?
Store Amizon® in a dry place, away from light, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).
Keep it out of reach of children and do not use it after the expiration date.
