Pharmacokinetics Biological Availability properties of a mometazon of furoate when drawing on skin is very low (0.7%). Use of hermetic bandages or drawing on the inflamed skin leads to increase in extent of absorption of a mometazon. Extent of penetration of corticosteroids of topical administration through skin depends on many factors, including composition of drug and integrity of an epidermal barrier and varies substantially at different individuals and in different anatomic sites of skin: a forearm – 1%, the head – 4%, a forehead – 7%, a scrotum – 36%. The greatest extent of absorption of a mometazon is noted when putting ointment on skin inguinal, an underarm, face skin.
After topical administration of a mometazon, furoate is exposed to extensive metabolism in a liver.
Are removed generally through kidneys, and in a small amount – with bile. Elimination half-life of drug makes 5.8 hours.
Mometazon’s pharmacodynamics furoate, active agent of ointment of Ellick, is a synthetic galogensoderzhashchy corticosteroid and possesses anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, vasoconstrictive action.

It is necessary to avoid hit of ointment of Ellick in eyes.
When drawing on big sites of skin for a long time, especially at use of occlusive bandages, development of systemic action of a mometazon is possible. Considering it, patients have to be observed concerning signs of suppression of function gipotalamo – the hypophysial and adrenal system and development of a syndrome of Cushing.
It is necessary to consider that GKS-soderzhashchiye ointments are capable to change manifestations of some diseases of skin that can complicate diagnosis and besides, be the cause of a delay of healing of wounds.
At long therapy of GKS the sudden termination of therapy can lead ment of a syndrome of the ricochet which is shown in the form of dermatitis with intensive erubescence and burning sensation. Therefore after a long course of treatment the drug withdrawal should be made gradually, for example, passing to the intermittent scheme of treatment before completely to stop it.
Use in pediatrics
Because children have a size of a ratio of surface area and body weight is more, than at adults, children are subject to bigger risk of suppression of function gipotalamo – the hypophysial and adrenal system and development of a syndrome of Cushing at use of any GKS of local action.
Long GKS-treatment of children can lead to disturbances of their growth and development.
Children have to receive the minimum dose of drug sufficient for achievement of effect.
Features of influence of medicine on ability to run motor transport or other potentially dangerous mechanisms
are not revealed.
Symptoms: excessive or prolonged use of local glucocorticosteroids can cause oppression of function of a hypophysial and adrenal system that can become the reason of development of secondary insufficiency of bark of adrenal glands.
Treatment: symptomatic. Acute symptoms of a hypercorticoidism are usually reversible. If necessary correction of an electrolytic imbalance is shown. In case of chronic toxic action the gradual cancellation of glucocorticosteroids is recommended.
