Its main active component is a plant-derived hexose glycoside complex containing glucose, rhamnose, arabinose, mannose, xylose, galactose, and uronic acids.

The solution also contains sodium chloride and water for injection.

Panavir belongs to the group of systemic antiviral medicines and is used for several viral and infection-related conditions, including herpesvirus infections, cytomegalovirus infection, papillomavirus infection, influenza, and acute respiratory viral infections as part of appropriate treatment regimens.

It is supplied as a clear or slightly opalescent, colorless to light-brown, odorless liquid.

How Is Panavir Administered?

Panavir is intended only for intravenous use and should be administered slowly as an intravenous injection.

A single therapeutic adult dose is 200 micrograms, corresponding to the contents of one 5 ml ampoule.

The exact number of injections and the interval between doses depend on the condition being treated.

For herpesvirus infection and tick-borne encephalitis, two injections are generally administered 24 or 48 hours apart.

Other approved regimens may involve several injections separated by intervals of 24, 48, or 72 hours.

Who Should Not Use Panavir?

Panavir should not be used by people with hypersensitivity to the active substance or any ingredient of the solution.
