What is Milgamma®?

Milgamma® is a medication that contains a combination of vitamins B1 (Thiamine), B6 (Pyridoxine), and B12 (Cyanocobalamin).

It is used to treat neurological disorders caused by deficiencies of these essential vitamins.

The vitamins in Milgamma® help improve nerve function, reduce inflammation, and alleviate nerve pain.

It is available in the form of injectable ampoules and oral tablets, offering flexibility in treatment based on severity and patient needs.

Milgamma® is particularly helpful for patients whose dietary intake cannot sufficiently meet their vitamin B requirements.

This product plays a significant role in supporting nerve health and treating conditions like neuropathy and nerve degeneration.

What Are the Available Forms of Milgamma®?

Milgamma® is available in the following forms to meet different needs:

  1. Milgamma® Ampoules for Injection (2 ml each)

    • Packaged in boxes of 5 or 10 ampoules.
    • Contains vitamins B1, B6, and B12 combined with lidocaine, which helps minimize injection discomfort.
  2. Milgamma® Compositum Tablets

    • Available in packs of 30 or 60 tablets.
    • These coated tablets are formulated with vitamins B1 and B6, making them suitable for ongoing maintenance therapy after initial injection treatment or for mild neurological cases.
  3. Milgamma® Mono 300 Tablets

    • Available in packs of 30 tablets.
    • Contains 300 mg of benfotiamine, a fat-soluble derivative of vitamin B1, specifically useful for correcting B1 deficiency.

    What Conditions Does Milgamma® Treat?

Milgamma® is prescribed for various neurological disorders resulting from confirmed deficiencies in vitamins B1, B6, and B12. It is particularly effective for:

    • Neuropathies and Nerve Pain: Helps in conditions like diabetic neuropathy and other nerve-related pain syndromes.
    • Vitamin B Deficiencies: Including conditions like beriberi, peripheral neuropathy, and other neurological issues due to malnutrition or increased vitamin needs.

    Who Should Not Use Milgamma®?

Milgamma® is contraindicated in the following cases:

    • Allergies: Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients, including thiamine, pyridoxine, cyanocobalamin, or lidocaine.
    • Heart Conditions: Patients with severe heart conditions, such as acute decompensated heart failure.
    • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use during pregnancy or lactation should only be under strict medical supervision, as high doses of these vitamins are not recommended without professional evaluation.
    • Children Under 12 Years: Milgamma® is not recommended for use in children under 12.

    How Should Milgamma® Be Used?

    For Adults:

    Ampoules for Injection:

    • Initial Phase: Administer one 2 ml injection daily intramuscularly for 5-10 days to provide rapid symptom relief.
    • Maintenance Phase: After initial symptom relief, reduce the injection frequency to 2-3 times per week for 2-3 weeks. Transition to oral tablets as soon as the symptoms stabilize.

    Tablets:

    • Milgamma® Compositum: Take 1 tablet 1-3 times daily, depending on symptom severity. It is best taken after meals.
    • Milgamma® Mono 300: Take 1 tablet (300 mg) once daily for at least three weeks to address vitamin B1 deficiency effectively.

    How Should Milgamma® Be Administered?

    • Ampoules: Administer via deep intramuscular injection only. Accidental intravenous injection can lead to severe side effects, including cardiac arrhythmia, due to the presence of lidocaine.
    • Tablets: Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not chew them. It is recommended to take tablets after meals for better absorption and reduced risk of gastrointestinal side effects.

How Long Is the Treatment with Milgamma®?

    • Ampoules: Typically used for 5-10 days in the acute treatment phase, followed by less frequent injections.
    • Tablets: Long-term treatment is possible with tablets, but high doses of Vitamin B6 should not exceed 6 months to avoid the risk of neuropathy. Regular medical check-ups are essential to monitor treatment progress.

What Side Effects May Occur with Milgamma®?

Milgamma® can cause side effects in some patients, including:

    • Injection Site Reactions: Pain, redness, or burning at the site of injection, especially if not administered correctly.
    • Allergic Reactions: Rarely, skin rashes, itching, difficulty breathing, or more severe allergic reactions like angioedema or anaphylactic shock may occur.
    • Cardiovascular Effects: Tachycardia or arrhythmias are possible, particularly if the ampoules are mistakenly injected intravenously.

What Should I Do in Case of Overdose?

Symptoms of overdose can include dizziness, arrhythmias, convulsions, or increased severity of side effects due to lidocaine or excessive Vitamin B6 intake.

    • Action: Discontinue Milgamma® immediately and contact a healthcare professional for advice on managing symptoms.

    How Should Milgamma® Be Stored?

    • Ampoules: Store in a refrigerator between 2-8°C (36-46°F) and protect from light.
    • Tablets: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F) in a cool, dry place.

Ensure that all forms of Milgamma® are kept out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.

What Precautions Should Be Taken When Using Milgamma®?

    • Intramuscular Injection Only: Milgamma® ampoules are intended strictly for intramuscular use. Never administer intravenously.
    • Prolonged Use: Long-term use of high doses of Vitamin B6 (over six months) may lead to peripheral neuropathy. Always follow the prescribed dosage.
    • Pregnancy and Lactation: The use of Milgamma® during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be avoided unless prescribed by a doctor who has assessed the benefit-risk ratio for the mother and baby.
