What is KOLOFORT®?
KOLOFORT® is a medication designed to help manage Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia. It comes in the form of sublingual tablets, which means they are meant to dissolve under the tongue for optimal absorption. KOLOFORT® is a complex treatment that combines several active ingredients to target symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort, which are often associated with IBS and other digestive issues.
How Does KOLOFORT® Work?
KOLOFORT® contains three active components that work together to provide relief from IBS symptoms. Each component plays a different role in modulating the body’s response to inflammation and stress:
- Antibodies to human tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) – These help reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract by modulating the activity of cytokines that cause inflammation.
- Antibodies to S-100 protein – These are known for their psychotropic effects, helping to relieve anxiety and stress-related gastrointestinal symptoms. They also support normal digestive function by acting on serotonin and sigma receptors.
- Antibodies to histamine – These provide anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects, which help reduce muscle spasms in the intestines and ease bloating and discomfort.
By combining these effects, KOLOFORT® addresses both the central and peripheral mechanisms of IBS, providing a comprehensive approach to alleviating symptoms.
Who Can Benefit from KOLOFORT®?
KOLOFORT® is primarily used by adults experiencing symptoms of:
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), particularly stress-induced symptoms such as abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and nausea.
- Functional Dyspepsia, which manifests as nausea, bloating, early satiety, heartburn, and abdominal discomfort.
How Do You Take KOLOFORT®?
KOLOFORT® is taken orally in the form of sublingual tablets. The recommended dosage is:
Irritable Bowel Syndrome: 2 tablets, twice daily, allowed to dissolve fully in the mouth. The treatment course should last for at least 1 month, but it is generally recommended to continue for 3 months. If necessary, treatment may be extended to 6 months or repeated after a 1-2 month break.
Functional Dyspepsia: The suggested course is 2 tablets, twice daily, for 2 months.
Are There Any Side Effects?
KOLOFORT® is generally well tolerated. However, some individuals may experience allergic reactions to the components.
In case of an overdose, mild digestive disturbances could occur, typically caused by the auxiliary substances in the formula.
Can Pregnant or Nursing Women Take KOLOFORT®?
There is currently no data on the use of KOLOFORT® in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
As a result, it is recommended to consult a healthcare provider before using this medication during these periods.
Are There Any Storage Guidelines?
KOLOFORT® should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F) and kept out of reach of children.
The shelf life of the product is 3 years, and it should not be used after its expiration date.
What Makes KOLOFORT® Unique?
The combination of psychotropic and anti-inflammatory actions makes KOLOFORT® a versatile option for individuals with IBS and related disorders. Unlike many other IBS treatments, it also addresses the psychological components of the condition, such as anxiety and stress, without causing sedation or dependence.
