Ingredient: Metamizole Sodium

What is Analgin (Metamizole Sodium)?

Analgin is a widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine that helps relieve pain and reduce fever. Each tablet contains 500 mg of metamizole sodium, a compound belonging to the pyrazolone group, known for its analgesic, antipyretic, and mild anti-inflammatory effects. This medicine is often chosen for moderate to severe pain or fever that does not respond to other treatments. It acts gently on the stomach, providing effective relief for a range of painful conditions while maintaining user comfort and safety.

How does Analgin work in the body?

Analgin works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, substances responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever. This leads to a noticeable reduction in pain and a drop in body temperature. The effect usually starts within 30–60 minutes after oral administration and lasts for several hours, providing steady and long-lasting comfort.

When is Analgin used?

Analgin is recommended for adults and children over 10 years old in the following cases:

  • Acute pain after injury or surgery
  • Colic pain (such as kidney or gallbladder colic)
  • Pain caused by tumors
  • Severe or chronic pain when other methods are not effective
  • High fever unresponsive to other measures

If symptoms persist or worsen, medical advice should be sought promptly.

How should Analgin be taken?

The dosage depends on the intensity of pain or fever and the individual’s response to treatment. Tablets should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of water, such as a full glass.

  • Adults and adolescents over 15 years (over 53 kg): 1–2 tablets (500–1000 mg) up to 4 times daily.

Maximum daily dose: 8 tablets (4000 mg).

  • Children over 10 years: 1 tablet (500 mg) per dose, up to 4 tablets daily (2000 mg).

Elderly patients or those with reduced kidney or liver function should use lower doses to prevent accumulation of metabolites.

What precautions should be taken before use?

Before taking Analgin, consult your doctor if you have:

  • A history of allergic reactions to pain relievers
  • Low blood pressure or circulatory instability
  • Liver or kidney disorders
  • Any blood disorders such as low white blood cell count

Do not use Analgin if you are allergic to metamizole sodium or similar substances (such as phenazone or phenylbutazone), or if you have certain rare conditions like glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency or hepatic porphyria. Children under 10 years should not take this medicine.

What are the possible side effects of Analgin?

Analgin is generally well tolerated when used correctly. However, some rare but serious side effects can occur, such as:

  • Allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling)
  • Agranulocytosis (severe decrease in white blood cells)
  • Low blood pressure or circulatory shock
  • Severe skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome (extremely rare)

If you notice unusual symptoms such as fever, sore throat, or rash, stop taking the medicine immediately and seek medical attention.

Can Analgin be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Use of Analgin during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not recommended. If absolutely necessary, breastfeeding should be suspended for at least 48 hours after taking the medicine. Always consult a healthcare provider before use during these periods.

What happens if you miss a dose?

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

If you have skipped several doses or have questions about your treatment schedule, talk to your doctor.

How should Analgin be stored?

Store Analgin in a dry, light-protected place, out of the reach and sight of children, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C (77°F).

Keep it in its original packaging to maintain product quality. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the box.

Shelf life: 5 years.
